This is a typical sort of holding for a major country such as Canada (a few holdings are rather more complete but with the exception of the Dutch and French holdings, neither of which will be offered as lots, there are no even substantially complete holdings and the condition (ranging from very poor to quite good) is also typical of most holdings although a few are better and not a few significantly poorer. Note also that amongst the dross there are valuable stamps to be found, marked here by a ^ carat under the stamps by my mother.
These are the only pages of the 'Ideal' album I propose to scan. The album is quite heavy and repeatedly lugging it on to the scanner shan't do a lot for either album or scanner to say nothing of the stamps.
As always I ask you to bear in mind that scans flatter stamps, especially in close up. Thus the $5, heavily cancelled and not helped any by washing either (a juvenile me I suspect), looks even more dreary in ordinary light than it does in the scan.
I'm listing my stamps on three different eBays - US for America and some other issues, Netherlands (a surprisingly vibrant stamp market here and I would list more but for the Dutch antipathy to PayPal) for the Dutch postals dues ('Postzegels/Nederland/Port' in their lingo) and UK for most others. I haven't decided whether I will list what remains of the UK collection (it got cherrypicked when the collection was impounded in Egypt during the 1956 Suez crisis but to be philosophic about at least we got the rest of it back intact - consider it commision habibi and thanks)
My starting price policy (as of start of 2010) is to sart oh-nine-nine (i.e. £0.99 whatever) so long as I've built up sufficient watchers. In some group of stamps, notably the Dutch postage dues (which are mainly VF/MNH and extremely hard to come by this period) I shall be starting at atleast 50% catalogue prices and higher the more valued items.
PLEEASE don't email me asking when such and such a holding is going to be listed! No idea, but I do faithfully promise that all active listings will be displayed within 24 hours on the parent page and in general (barring senior lapses) I shall list to complete evening between 8 and 9 pm local time.
