USA Collection
These are the US stamps I propose to list on eBay commencing December 15th with a preliminary offer of the 1847 Franklin stamp and continuing into the New Year if that was successful over a period of weeks and months.
As far as I know these stamps were collected off cover by (I presume) my great grandfather and there should be no question of fakes (philatelic at any rate), facsimiles or reprints but I shall do my homework on each lot I offer. Needless to say I can't offer an expertising service and note that while my returns policy is designed to protect you against fraud and the kind of misjudgement one can make when not actually handling the stamps it does essentially put the onus on you to spot ffr. Well I shall do whatever seems fair but I do countenance you right now that I propose a zero tolerance policy on the nuisance of treating returns as an approvals service - I simply won't accept a return other than for significant issues that were left undescribed or could not be discerned from the scans provided.
For the most part I expect to offer individual stamps but the less expensive items will be bundled into lots together for an expected final bid price of at least $10.
I've got plenty of watchers now I can trust to bid fair prices and I'm lisring starting at $0.99 all items. Thanks to all bidders. I'm really pleased with the way the auction is going.
Note that the collection was written up by my late mother. I haven't checked through it all myself and no doubt there might be some revisions in the description. Regarding colour varieties I am particularly hopeless (though I'm not actually colour blind) at detecting shades unless the variation is obvious and in any case I am aware that time does funny things to shade. Moreover one can't judge from a scan since the colours can be manipulated (but I shall never do this - what you see is what I scanned - WYSIWIS). On the other hand presenting the album sheets as I do here means you have the opportunity to judge the colour in relation to other known stamps. Colour shades will be a somewhat grey area (hah) of my returns policy where and if it arises. Again I shall endeavor to do what seems fair - I certainly shan't ever try to misrepresent or leave unexamined any significant issues of shade as described in Scott.
I am listing on the US eBay and shall ship airmail at small packet rate. For items bid over $50 I shall ship UK Royal Mail Airsure bearing the extra cost myself.
Note that I only ship to countries with sufficiently developed postal services to support AirSure. These naturally include Canada and the US but there are some surprising exclusions - Japan and Australia for example. In Europe excluded countries include Norway, Greece and Italy and all countries lately part of the ex-Soviet bloc.
